Dr Kenneth Liew graduated top of his cohort from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1990 and was awarded the Gibb's Gold Medal. He subsequently trained for five years in Internal Medicine and was awarded the Sir Gordan Arthur Ransome Gold Medal for being the top candidate in the Masters of Medicine examinations in 1995. Dr Liew then pursued specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in both Singapore and the UK for the next five years after being awarded the MRCP (UK) diploma in 1996. He spent over a year as an MOH HMDP scholar at the Centre for Liver & Digesive Disorders at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, U.K. Soon after returning to Singapore in 1999, he was appointed Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer in Medicine at the NUS. In 2006, Dr Liew commenced private practice at Mt Alvernia Hospital and has since been appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin Medical School at NUS. In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, Dr Liew's scope of practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders and liver problems especially chronic hepatitis B.

I graduated from the University of Singapore in 1983 and underwent postgraduate specialist training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in Singapore and attained my Master of Medicine Degree and became Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore as well as Royal College of Physician in Edinburgh. I completed one-year sub-specialty training in Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at the London National Medical Laser Centre, United Kingdom in 1995, where I received intensive and comprehensive training in all aspects of therapeutic Gastrointestinal endoscopy, in particular Endoscopic Laser Therapy of Gastrointestinal malignancy and Endoscopic ultrasound staging of Gastrointestinal cancer. I was previously Senior Consultant and Head of Gastrointestinal cancer. I was previously Senior Consultant and Head of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Service at Singapore's Changi General Hospital and Vice-president of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore.

Dr Jarrod Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and attained specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology in 2009. In 2010, he was invited to be Clinical Lead and Chairman of Endoscopy for the newly opened Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he established the Division of Gastroenterology and the Endoscopy Centre for the new hospital before leaving for private practice in 2013. In 2014, he founded gutCARE, the first group practice in Gastroenterology in Singapore, which focuses on delivering sub-specialist expertise in digestive diseases.
Dr Jarrod Lee is well established regionally in endoscopy. He is the only doctor from Southeast Asia to win a Crystal Award, an international award for endoscopic excellence. In 2011, he beat over 100 top endoscopists to win the coveted ASGE AV Award, an international award that defines the reference standard for the world. He has a special interest in incorporating the latest advanced imaging and new techniques into endoscopy and everyday practice, and in digestive cancer screening and prevention.
Dr Mark Fernandes

Dr Mark Fernandes at gutCARE Digestive•Liver•Endoscopy Associates is an established gastroenterologist with a special interest in liver disease. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with honours and went on to complete his residency and Gastroenterology training at the National University Hospital in Singapore. He pursued an Advanced Fellowship in Interventional Hepatology at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan and furthered his exposure to Liver Transplantation Medicine at the King's College Hospital, London. He was the first Gastroenterologist in Singapore to perform Radiofrequency Ablation for liver cancer. In 2009, he established the Liver Tumour Ablative Service at National University Hospital (NUH), in collaboration with the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and was also actively involved in the liver transplantation programme at NUH. Dr Fernandes has also a strong interest in monitoring the progression of liver disease using Fibroscan ®.
Dr Fernandes has presented research work at international conferences and published in international peer-reviewed journals. He was a Clinical Tutor at the National University Singapore.
REUBEN WONG KONG MIN

A/Prof (Adj) Reuben Wong is a specialist in Gastrointestinal Medicine, whose forte is in reflux and swallowing disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), gut microbiota, chronic constipation and diarrhoea. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Visiting Consultant at the National University Hospital (NUH). He is also President of the IBS Support Group of Singapore.
Dr Wong obtained his MBBS from NUS in 1998 and attained his MRCP in 2004. In 2008, he was accredited as a Gastroenterologist by the Ministry of Health and admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Wong served full-time in the public service for 18 years, and was a Senior Consultant and Associate Professor at NUH, before bringing his clinic expertise into private practice.
Dr Wong undertook sub-specialty training at the University of North Carolina (UNC) under the HMDP scholarship awarded by MOH. Mentored by Professors Douglas Drossman and William Whitehead of the Rome Foundation, he honed his skills in the management of complex functional gastrointestinal disorders within a multi-disciplinary setting, and trained in esophageal motility and anorectal manometry testing.
Upon his return, Dr Wong helmed the Functional Gastroenterology Clinic, and was Clinical Director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Laboratory at NUH, where he introduced High Resolution Manometry to Singapore, enabling new clinical insight into the diagnosis and management of esophageal disorders.
Dr Wong has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is also an invited reviewer for both local and international medical journals. His research interests and publications span a wide range from gastrointestinal conditions to cancer screening improvement and physician accessibility. His key publications, however, remain in the realm of gastrointestinal motility, neuro-gastroenterology and IBS.
Dr Wong is regularly invited to speak at international scientific meetings and his research has been presented at international conferences. Apart from having received several research grants, he has also received local and international accolades, including three Young Investigator Awards, an MOH Quality Improvement Merit Award and a Leadership in Academic Medicine Award. Dr Wong is currently faculty on the International Anorectal Physiology Workgroup, which seeks to draft the new language and definitions for High Resolution Anorectal Manometry. He is also a member of the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee, which works to improve colorectal cancer screening in Singapore.
Dr Wong’s commitment to patient care has won him reviews and accolades, including an EXSA Gold and Sunny Side Up care awards. He is conversant in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia and multiple dialects.
His passion for public advocacy sees him serving as President of the IBS Support Group of Singapore. On the volunteer front, he also serves on the committee for the St Andrew’s Home for the Aged and on the St Andrew’s Cathedral Servers’ Guild.
