Dr James Pan Chuan-Hsin graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1995. Being one of the top medical students, he was on the Dean’s List. He underwent specialist training in Singapore, and underwent specialty fellowship training in Cornea, External Eye Diseases and Refractive Surgery in Perth, Australia.

Currently, Dr Pan is a Senior Consultant Eye Surgeon in Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. He subspecializes in Cornea, External Eye Diseases and Refractive Surgery (LASIK) and has a special interest in Artificial Corneal Transplantation. In fact, Dr Pan is one of the few surgeons in the region who is accredited by the Ministry of Health (Singapore) to implant the AlphaCor™ Artificial Cornea and perform human donor corneal transplantation. Aside from his interest in corneal surgeries, his practice also consists of LASIK and cataract surgeries.

Outside work, Dr Pan believes in sharing his knowledge to the medical community and training future ophthalmologists. He is a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and has published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals. In 2003, Dr Pan was awarded the Courage Star Award by the President S.R. Nathan in recognition of his extraordinary dedication in tending to SARS patient in Singapore. He has also received the Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare Award for 2009 - 2010.
